Ready to learn a new skill?
Join us for one—or even two—workshops where we guide you through textile skills that have been long forgotten and joyfully rediscovered. Explore spinning, weaving, lucet and trollen wheel, dyeing, peg loom weaving, and receive assistance with your circular sock machine.

Each workshop is delivered in a friendly, relaxed setting with small group numbers, allowing for personalised guidance and plenty of hands-on learning.

Workshops are held at 15 Queen Street, Framlingham, or at the Fram Hall (located directly across the road) for larger groups.

An Intro to Spinning & Weaving

$60 per fortnight lesson (2hr) or $300 for a 6 wk block

A workshop which is tailored to the skill you would like to focus on. As great introduction to both weaving and spinning we will give you the basic skills to then further your interest in either one or both modalities. You will learn about fibre, how to prepare for spinning, the spinning process & then start to experiment with one of our Saori Looms for a two shaft weaving style which highlights texture, colour and a free style of expression. The fabric woven can then be used for a project or garment of your choice such as a Bozar Bag or pouch. We will also introduce you to a few finishing techniques for the warp ends of the fabric

If you have a rigid heddle or table top loom at home & would like to use, you are more than welcome to bring along

Weave a Woollen Scarf - absolute beginners welcome

You are welcome to bring along your own Rigid Heddle Loom or use one of the shops Sampleit Looms. If preferred you may try your hand at a Saori Loom with a beautifully hand wound warp.

Cost: $140 with SampleIt Loom and Ashford scarf Kit

$170 Saori style using warp and fibres we have available- this will also incorporate a few more weaving techniques

V Poncho in 2 days

$440 all materials supplied or $240 if you supply your own commercial or handspun yarn. Suitable for beginners or those with a little 2 shaft weaving experience.

In this 2 day workshop you will learn to weave on a 2 shaft Saori floor loom beginning with a small sampler which if you choose can be turned into a little wall hanging (hoop can be purchased separately). We will touch base with you for colour choice about three weeks prior to Day 1, to ensure we have enough handspun fibre to complete your project. We have a few baskets of ‘çolour pops’ available for you to use & some to purchase if desired. Day one and the first part of Day 2 will be spent weaving. The afternoon of Day 2 will see you finishing your poncho, sewing up and completing the hem with fringing.

Time: 9.30 – 4pm  both days  Light refreshments included. Max 2 people.

Provided is approximately 500gr of handspun fibre in your colour choice with contrast colours. You will be shown how to use a fringe tool and sewing machine. You will need to wash your poncho at home and full instructions will be given on how to do this.
